what will happen?
the first session
During our first session, I will ask you for some details about yourself and also answer any questions you may have about me. I will explain about confidentiality and the very limited circumstances in which I will not be able to maintain this.
Then we'll spend some time exploring your reasons for coming to counselling. You don't have to know what you want to say; it's okay to say as much or as little as you want. I'll do everything I can to help you feel comfortable.
going on from there
People sometimes wonder how long they will need to come to counselling. There is no set answer - it is very much up to you. Some people come for only a few weeks while others find they appreciate the support for longer. We can discuss this both in our first session and as we go along. It's important that you feel safe, and in control of what we discuss. It's also important that we find a way of exploring your feelings that works for you. I have trained in an integrative way which means I can draw on a range of techniques and approaches to support you.
how much will it cost?
Our first session will be £25; after that, for a session of counselling, I charge £50, but I can reduce this if your circumstances make this difficult for you. I charge £40 to work with young people. A session is 50 minutes. Payment is either in cash during the session or, if you prefer, we can arrange a direct bank transfer in advance of sessions.
